I got to travel to several European cities with Silas, Isaac and Eli this summer. This picture is taken from on top of the Eiffel Tower in June – can you tell how cold it was? Paris, France was so much fun – we ate crepes with Nutella, rode the metro and took a boat cruise on the River Seine. The Mona Lisa in the Louvre was a little smaller than I imagined.
The BioParc, which is a zoo in Valencia, Spain, was a highlight of our trip.Did you know that when kids look cute adults sometimes say, "Qué mono!"But mono is also the word for monkeys, so it was a little confusing.I learned a lot of Spanish!
In Barcelona, Spain we stayed in a nice hotel. It was so hot – almost 100 degrees! We got to see amazing architecture like Gaudi’s Park, homes and La Sagrada Familia.Mrs. Sload would have loved the Picasso Museum where we got to see his blue period!
Finally, we went to Bremen, Germany and saw these famous Bremen Town Musicians. I really wanted to get on top, but they wouldn’t let me. In this city we got to meet the exchange student who will be living with them this year – Timo.
It was an amazing trip! Next time I travel outside the country I’m really going to have to get a passport!!

with Brianna and Brooke Thiry to Orlando, Tampa, and Clearwater, Florida from
June 9 to 13. We flew Allegiant Airlines from Wilmington to Orlando.
The flight only took one hour vs. 11 hours in the car. We stayed
at the Nickelodeon Suites Hotel.
On the second day of our trip, we went to Clearwater to visit Winter, the dolphin from the movie “Dolphin Tale.” Winter is a very active dolphin and she really likes to tweet!!!
On the third day
of our trip we went to Sea World. At Sea World we saw Sea Lions,
Polar Bears, a Walrus, Dolphins, Sharks, and domestic cats and dogs. Brianna
waited in line to ride Journey to Atlantis while Brooke watched a pet show.
Later on that day, we got slimed at the pool.
On the last day,
Brianna and her dad went back to Sea World and rode Journey to Atlantis 9
times!!! They also went on the Manta and Kraken. Some shows we saw
include Double Dare Live, Spongebob’s Krabby Patty Celebration, and nine 4D
movies. Those movies sprayed water and shot out smells, like
pickles and bananas. Our room had bunkbeds that we traded off who slept on the
bottom and who slept up top. We had our own TV in our
We had a great
trip and we all know Freedom did too!!!
On my trip to Arizona I saw many interesting sights. We got off our plane at Phoenix, AZ at 12:00 p.m., but it was only 9:00 in North Carolina. The next day we went to Montezuma's Castle on the way to our hotel in Sedona. Montezuma's Castle is really cool Indian ruins. Justice probably liked it too.
The next day we went to the Meteor Crater. It was so windy it almost made me fall. Later we went to the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest. They looked awesome and they were fun to look at.
We went hiking up a really tall mountain named Doe Mesa, then we had a tour on a pink jeep. That was a fun day.
On Tuesday we went to Sunset Crater the volcano park and we saw some more Indian ruins. We also went to Walnut Canyon which had 240 steps.
On Wednesday we went to the Grand Canyon and spent our whole day there . When we arrived at the Grand Canyon parking lot my mom said we had to walk to the Grand Canyon. I was tired on the way there and back.
Thursday, we went hiking again, then we went swimming at our pool. It was fun.
We went to an old mining town called Jerome on the way to the Phoenix airport. When we landed back in Raleigh, it was really late.
